Personal Statement
I am looking for an opportunity that will allow me to have a good balance in my life between sports and academics. Pole vaulting is a sport that allows me to encapsulate all my passions: being challenged, using my intellect, and embracing my strength. Being pushed to go to the next height is how I live my life- whether that is in education, community activities, or athletics. Intellectually, pole vaulting requires me to use the skills of math and physics. Mentally, pole vaulting requires me to overcome boundaries few others have. Physically, pole vaulting requires me to overcome gravity. I have been fortunate to find a sport that provides me the sense of freedom that pole vaulting does. I feel I would be a major asset to a collegiate track and field team that provides me with an opportunity to a balanced approach of academics and athletics.
