My names Ana Warkocki and I never thought of running collegiality until the end of my freshmen year in high school. I never had any real aspiration to run at all after 8th grade until one of my former teammates half way through the 2013 cross country season got me to come out for it. Even then I was a pretty closed off kind of negative person when it came to the future. My freshmen year of track though I met someone who changed my mind, he sat and talked to me about how I had potential I was wasting and that I needed to make some goals. After that season I really did see the need to continue running in my life, it kept me sane. Sophomore year I fractured my spine midway through my cross country season and had to heal for a while and in that time I began to realize more and more the need and want I had for running. But, unlike other girls that run in college, running does not come super easy to me. I work extra hard to keep my body as fast as all the other girls or even faster. I put in the extra stretching at night, the eating healthy, hydrating properly, and even keeping that healthy positive outlook to help improve my running. Overall though if there was one thing I'd have to say about myself as a competitor is that im a hard worker i'll do everything to achieve my goals, and I never dare give up.
I not only excel outside the classroom I tend to be a perfectionist inside also. I hold a steady GPA of a 4.1 as of now and take all AP courses. I am involved in Pi Sigma Pi, and Link Crew, outside of Cross Country and Track.
My Cross Country season freshmen year went from something of a joke to something to pay attention too. I started running with a 24:32 and did not PR or improve until my SWSC conference meet where I ran a 21:41 and realized maybe I should start trying. My freshmen track season began with me running events like the 400m and the 800m which I never had before. I ran a 66 at the sectional meet in my 400m, and as a freshmen my PR for the 800 was a 2:45.
My sophomore Cross Country season as stated before came to an abrupt halt in the first race of my sophomore season where I fractured my lower lumbar spine. My track season reflected that injury and resulted in keeping me pretty refrained to just running the 800 where I only PR'd to a 2:39.
My Junior year Cross Country season was the fastest I had ever been. I PR'd with a 21:19 in Peoria IL. I ran a 21:24 at the Sectional meet in the pouring rain and muddy conditions.
