Personal Statement
Throughout my life, I have upheld the principle that if I do something, I do it to the absolute best of my ability. This attitude has allowed me to flourish in all aspects; not only am I incredibly dedicated to Cross Country and Track, but I apply the lessons and strategies I learn from these sports to my entire life. Cross Country and Track are extremely important to me. I love the endless opportunity for self-improvement, the straightforward emphasis on work ethic and character, and the fostering of my very competitive spirit. These sports have not only developed my personal character and drive, but they have enabled me to step into a leadership role and guide my team to great success. This past year, I was named the sole captain of my cross country team which, under my leadership and encouragement as the team's top runner, placed fourth in state (the highest in school history). Such developed work ethic, athletic abilities (I was All-State in XC last year and I'm working towards placing in the top ten this fall; I also hold the 3200m school record, which had stood since 1997), academic dedication (I scored a 36 on my ACT and maintain a 4.51 GPA with 5 AP classes), and leadership experience will enable me to thrive in the realm of college cross country and track. I am very passionate about continuing to improve myself as much as possible; thus, I aspire to contribute immensely to my college team's development, enthusiastically taking a leadership role and leading by example with my dedication to bettering my times.
