Hi, my name is Rylee Anderson and I am a senior at Seneca High School. I am 5’10 and weigh 140 lbs. I have a 3.7 GPA, High Honor Roll, member of National Honor Society, Academic All Conference and am in the top 25 students in my class. I plan to major in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and am looking for a college that has a strong Elementary Education program along with a competitive Track & Field program. I prefer a smaller student to teacher ratio but am open to any size college.
Sports have always been a big part of my life. I enjoy the hard work, camaraderie and competition that go along with it. I am dedicated, dependable, very coachable and willing to try new things. These skills have helped me become not only a better athlete but student as well. I have played basketball, volleyball and ran track since grade school but track is where my passion lies. I would love to continue to compete on the track at the college level and hopefully be a contributor from the start.
I have been competing at the varsity level since freshman year. I run the 800m, 400m, relays and high jump. I have also competed in triple jump, 200m and hurdles. I started high jumping my sophomore year at my coach’s recommendation and fell in love with jumping. I was able to qualify for the state meet my first year out and made the finals finishing 12th. My goal this past season was to qualify for the state meet again and make the medal stand. I reached my goal and finished 6th at the state meet. I was also a state qualifier in the 800m, 4x800 (2 years) and 4x400 relays. I am the co-record holder in high jump at my school, was All Conference the last 3 years and my team was Conference and Sectional Champs the last 2 years. This past summer I began working with a high jump coach and compete in AAU and USATF meets with Jump High Athletic Club. I had multiple top 5 finishes at various indoor meets this past winter and was a state qualifier for Illinois Top Times Indoor Meet. This summer I qualified for the AAU National Jr. Olympics and the USATF National Jr. Olympics.
I strive to always be a leader and work hard to help my teammates and I to go that extra mile and reach our goals. My coaches can always count on me to step up and fill the gap wherever I am needed. My goals for senior year are: to continue to do well in the classroom; better my PRs; learn to throw javelin; qualify for state and medal; break the school record; and find a great college where I can continue my education and compete on the track team.
