Personal Statement
In my earlier childhood my father was both physically and verbally abusive towards me, in order to help myself cope with the anger, frustration, and pain of my unfortunate situation I began to run. Running let me thrive on feeling free because I was able to leave behind my horrific reality for a short period of time and feel in control of my freedom. When I am running, I consistently love the satisfaction, freedom, and adrenaline rush I receive after accomplishing what others see to be impossible. I have already done the impossible by escaping the abuse of my father as of a few years ago. I am glad that I was able to learn from a life experience that not many people have been through; such as mental and physical toughness, ambition, determination, and hard work. However, I continue to still do the impossible today because in September of 2015 I had a knee surgery; the doctor suggested that I may never be able run without pain, but as of today I have made a full recovery and I am setting huge goals for my junior year for both athletics and academics. I plan on boosting my GPA by taking AP and Dual Credit classes and run a 5k at 19:15 or faster. This summer I am currently training to accomplish my goals for this upcoming season. I am looking forward to my future because I have a huge dream of going to college to not only graduate with a Veterinary Medicine Degree, but to also to run competitively too!
