My name is Carli Sowonik and I am now a junior attending Hebron Highschool in Northwest Indiana. Over the years, I have participated in a number of sports, but track and field is where my true passion lies. I first joined track in sixth grade and have done a number of events here and there including high jumping, the 400 meter dash, and the 4x400 meter relay. However, my true passion lies within the field event known as polevaulting. I first began in sixth grade, and my coach could already tell that this was going to be my focus for track. By the end of seventh grade, I broke the middle schools boys and girls record by jumping 9'6 inches. Since then, I have continued to improve and now as a sophomore, I made it to state and I have the girls high school record as well for a jump of 10'6". My goal for the remainder of highschool is to keep on improving until I reach at the very least 13' by the time I am done with high school, and then go on to keep improving in college track and field.
