Wendy Catalan '15 Recruiting Profile

Greetings to anyone reading! My name is Wendy Catalan. I am 17 years old and I am currently a Senior at Pike High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. I would love to start of by saying that I absolutely fell in love with the sport. I would do anything to continue this sport at a collegiate level. I can say I'm the type of athlete to put in the extra work and effort at and outside of practice. I do only have 1 year of experience in this sport, but I know I have lots of potential in me to show more. I do have the mindset and passion to break through my obstacles. One of my greatest memories was taking my boot off to run of semi-state like a champ! I am very interested in any school that is competitive in athletics. Personally, the division isn't the most important thing. To me the most important aspect of running is the willingness of the Athlete. I believe that a committed athlete can take a team so far.

I am the oldest of my 5 siblings and my goals have always been to strive for the best. I would definitely pursue my dreams both academically and athletically. In that case, staying close to home and financial aid are my biggest factors to determine my schooling. I currently hold a PR of 19:40 for my 5k. I also have a PR of 5:50 in the 1600m. While doing track I focused a lot of the 1600m because it was an event I felt close to heart to, I felt like it was something I drove quicker to. Not to say, I love the other events as well. 

Not only am I a competitive athlete, I am a very responsible student. I participate in as much as I can, like Key Club International. I also participate in my school's Student Council and Leadership. I am still undecided about my major but my interests are in Business or Athletic Training. I would love to do anything in those fields because that's what I am most familiar with. I just hope to find the perfect college that can obtain the education I am looking for as well as the Athletic level. I would be grateful for anything I receive. Thanks for reading.
