Personal Statement

Hello my name is Alex McBride. I'm 5'5" and 103 lbs.  I'm a senior at New Prairie High School.   Academics have always been important to me, and receiving good grades is a major priority.  I run varsity for cross country and track.   I've been running cross country and track since I was in seventh grade.  I made All-Conference for cross country my freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons,  and competed in Semi-State those years as well.  My junior year I qualified for the IN state meet in Terre Haute placing 14th at Semi-State with a home course PR of 19:21.  I was also awarded MVP my freshman, sophomore, and junior years as well as the mental attitude award my sophomore and junior years.  This track season, I made All-conference in all three of my events.  I placed first in the 1600 and 3200 and my 4x800 relay team also received first place.  I placed 3rd in my sectional for the 3200 qualifying for regionals where I ran my PR 11:38.   I've always wanted to run at the college level.  I am hard working, and it has been said that I am very coachable.  I have a very competitive nature, but I also know how important good-sportsmanship is.  During my sophomore year track season I was diagnosed with mono just prior to the sectional meet.  Due to this, my season was shortened and I was unable to attain the goals (times) I had set for myself at the beginning of the season.  I was still recovering from the mono at the beginning of my 2011 cross  country season.  But I felt stronger each race, and was very happy with the progress I had made.  I set new PR's, and qualifying for state had been a goal of mine since freshman year.

Since I am undecided on a major at this time academically I am looking tor a school that offers me the opportunity and guidance to explore my various interests and career options. Athletically I am in search of a college with a running program where I can make an immediate impact, as well  as further develope my skills and strength.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
