Personal Statement
I've been a varsity three sport athlete competing in soccer, basketball and track. Lettering every year in every sport, I want the opportunity to participate in either basketball or track, specifically shot and or disc in college. In basketball, I primarily play a power forward and bring brute strength to the team. I'm a good rebounder and powerhouse underneath the basket and at 5'7" I'm able to play bigger than I am. I'm also interested in weight lifting and I've broken the squat school record for girls. The new record stands at 260 lbs. My max in bench is 145 and power clean is 130.
Not only am I a varsity three sport athlete, I'm an Honors student. I take the most advanced classes high schools can offer and am enrolled in many dual credit classes. Taking college level classes as a junior is difficult without being involved in athletics. In addition to athletics, I'm involved in clubs like S.A.D.D (Students Against Destructive Decisions), Cheerblock, 4-H, Junior Rotarian Club, National Honors Society and Principal Advisory Council. Along with these clubs, classes and athletics, I volunteer my S.R.T (student resource time) to the special needs room. These students have the most severe disabilities and I'm there to provide help, support, and friendships to the students who may lack those the most eradicating me of my provided study period.
My character presents itself in athletics as well. I was able to earn myself two sportsmanship awards through the IHSAA. In order to earn one, a player or team exemplifies the level of sportsmanship all athletes should strive to achieve. Prior to receiving this badge of honor, a referee must take the time to submit a small report on how the recipient conducts the qualities of good sportsmanship. One of my biggest strengths could be my team mentality. I'm the teammate that's willing to do what it takes for the improvement of everyone else; selflessness is a big part of who I am. I have a very old soul, which shapes my personality and really sets me apart from any other athletes and candidates. I've also attended an IHSAA leadership conference. Not only do I possess leadership qualities of a sports team, I possess qualities of a community leader. I would not only be a good candidate for a college team, but for the campus as well.
