Mallory Gallet ‘19 Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

My name is Mallory Gallet, I am a hard working, athletic farm girl from Basehor, Kansas. I am looking for a college where I can compete in cross country and at the same time gain a great education to help me achieve a successful and happy life.  I have great grades and at this moment I am undecided on my major.

I started running when I was eight years old with my parents. I really enjoyed it and in 6th grade ran in the girls on the run program. During Middle School I was the top runner in my grade and I competed in local 5k events and also ran my first 1/2 marathon when in 8th grade and won my division.  My freshman year of high school was a blast and I ran varsity and was the #2 runner in our school, I did however have a slight injury that had me sidelined for a few weeks.  During my sophomore year our HS Cross Country team qualified for the Kansas State meet for the first time in school history and I was our top finisher from our school at the State meet. I am finishing up my Junior year now and we qualified for State as a team again and placed 4th overall at the State meet, which was very exciting. My finish at the State meet was 31st overall and my time was a 21:11, which was slightly off of my HS Career PR of 20:40. I am going to be running in South Dakota at the Nike Nationals on November 12th and hope to do well there.  My athletic accomplishments during my high school career are 3X Varsity Letter in Cross Country, 1X 1st team all league and 1X 2nd team all league I ran track my Sophomore year and found out that I am a better distance runner than I am a sprinter but still had fun during track and tried out the pole vault as well. Even though I still have a year and a half of high school ahead of me I have had the following acomplishments: Varsity lettered 3X in Cross Country, 1X Track, 1X Softball, 1X Power Lifting & 2X on the drill/dance team. During my sophomore year I competed in power-lifting and even though I was giving up about 11lbs to most girls I competed against I still placed 3rd at State in the 105lb class in both the clean event and won 3rd overall in my weight class. My team won the team state title this year as well.

I have also been in competitive gymnastics and stopped at age 12 as a level 6, played competitive softball since I was 8 yrs old, I was involved in 4H up until last year, and enjoy racing horses as well. When I am not competing or playing sports I assist my family with our business by working on payroll processing and help run our small family farm. I have volunteered with several area events and I am currently a CareCat in our school district where I assist one of our Kindergarten classes.  

I am confident that my hard work ethic and competitive drive would make me a huge asset to any team and I also know that I would make a great teammate because of my knowledge of how important your teammates are in cross country and other sports.
