Personal Statement
Being a competitive figure skater since the age of five has taught me how to be a true competitor. Through skating I have not only become extremely physically fit, but also mentally prepared. As a two-sport athlete, I am very well-rounded and disciplined. While I plan to hang up my skates in college to high jump exclusively, balancing the two very competitive sports to this point has prepared me for the demands of being a collegiate athlete. This track season I became a 3-time Kansas 4A state medalist and a 2-time regional and league champ in the high jump while also helping lead my team to its 13th consecutive regional and league titles. Later this summer I became the silver medalist at the USATF MVA Region 16 Junior Olympic Championships with a jump of 5'5". Then just before school started, I won my third national medalist title at the US Figure Skating National Showcase in California. However, my dedication and determination doesn't stop when I leave the ice or the track, I take that same work ethic to the classroom where I take great pride in maintaining my 4.0. I promise to bring that same drive, determination, and ability to balance to your track program. Long story short, I've been jumping all of my life so would jump at the chance to jump for you!
