Personal Statement
Hello Coaches! My name is Kaelyn Balch. I am 5'8", 125 lbs. and am a cross country / track and field distance runner. I have been running since the 4th grade. My 2012 XC season just ended and I defended my 2011 state championship by winning the 2012 5A Kansas State XC championship at a very challenging Rim Rock course at the University of Kansas with a time of 14:36 4K. I accomplished big time drops in both my 3200 and 1600 during the 2012 Track and Field season and finished with runner-up and 3rd place finishes in the 3200 and 1600 at the Kansas 5A State Track and Field meet. For the 2011 XC season I was the Kansas 5A Individual State Champion, 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All Region and 1st Team All-League . I also placed 10th in the 2011 Nike Heartland Regional XC Championships and 4th at the 2011 Cross Country Coaches Youth National Championships. My freshman and sophomore years I was the 5A Individual State Runner-Up, 1st Team All-State, 1st Team All Region and 1st Team All-League. I define myself as a leader, hard worker, dedicated, cheerful, friendly, and outgoing individual. I try to always have a smile on my face and have fun with anything that has to do with running. At practice I am always the one to stay longer and do the extra miles. I take every practice seriously, but have fun along the way. I would love to run in college because running is my life. I love it. Every day I always look forward to it because it helps me clear my mind of the day and it makes me happier. I could not imagine my life without it. I would like to keep sports in my life because of how it has helped me grow and mature as a person. My goals for the future are winning a couple of individual state titles, running at a high level Division 1 school, and hopefully running pro after college. I appreciate the time you are taking to review my profile and look forward to hearing from you.
