Rohen Brown '25 Recruiting Profile

I am a runner. I am a fighter. No matter what I’m doing, be it training, working, or studying, I will put all of my heart into it, and will not stop until I am proud of my work. 

I am a true athlete. At the end of the day, I will not be remembered for my times, my rankings, or my awards. I will be remembered by the girl I raced with whom I talked through the hills at a state meet, who I ran with for over a mile just so she didn’t drop out. I will be remembered by my teammates for always cheering them on, even when I was disappointed in myself, for sticking by their side in every team run, and never letting anyone fall behind. I will be remembered by my coaches for always giving my all at every practice and never slacking off, for taking every workout as a challenge that I wanted to beat and never complaining about a long run. I will be remembered by my competitors who saw how hard I worked and the progress I made, meet after meet, year after year. Most importantly, I will remember and view myself based on the effort I put in as an athlete. While we all want to be The Best and dream about winning the Big Race, any good runner will tell you that no one else has that much power over our meet. No matter what a competitor does, no matter how hard they train, they cannot affect my race. I am the only being who can control the outcome, the only person who has the power over my time. That is what I love about running; the reward is completely dependent on the effort I put in.
