Simone Jackson '12 Recruiting Profile

I'm Simone Jackson. I weigh 125 lbs and I am 5'4''. As a freshman coming into high school, I didn't expect to see myself striving to run track in high school. Track was a foreign sport for me- I had never ran it before. After the season, my times were ranked well in my county, and in my region, and I knew I had a lot of potential in a sport that at first I had little to no knowledge. My freshman year I had made it to regionals, with a best time of 13.11 by the end of the season. In sophomore year, I came to love it, and I became a lot more serious about my althletic achievements in the sport. I was driven and determined to improve my times, and reach my potential. I knew I wasn't there yet. As a sophomore, I made it to the Maryland State Championships in all four of my track and field events (100, 200, 4x100, and 4x200). After that, I joined a summer track team coached by a woman who still holds the Maryland State records for the 100 and 200 Meter Dash.  Her coaching decreased my time tremendously, finishing the season with a 12.49. Junior year came shortly, and I again made it the Maryland State Championships in 4 of my events. Being with the same coach this summer, I've reached my personal bests of 12.18 in the 100m, and 25.02 in the 200m.
I am very committed both on the track, and in the classroom-always striving to do my best. However, my high school track team does not always take the sport the way I do, which has been a challenge throughout my years; particularily on my relay teams.
Athletics are very important to me, but academics comes first. Currently, my desired major is Communications/Journalism. Being an editor on my school's newspaper opened my mind to that field. As far as college choices, I am looking at both big and small schools- currently I am not sure on which to choose, therefore; I am keeping my options open. In addition, I am keeping divison levels for atletics open as well, D1, D2 and D3. 
My athletic goals are to decrease my times and compete at highest levels, with girls who are even faster than I.  I want to become faster and stronger, and be the best I can be. I may run against other girls, but I truly run against the clock. I want to reach my potential.
