Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Mackenzie Condon. I desire to continue track and field in college. Track has taught me that what you put in, you get out. This drives me to be accountable and committed to my athletic progress and to become 1% better in some aspect of the sport every day.
I started track during my sophomore year after breaking my hand and not being able to play hockey. This ended up being quite fortuitous as now after only 18 months in the sport, I have become a Boston Globe All-Scholastic, competed at nationals, and most importantly, have been able to push myself to exceed all expectations.
Knowing my short history in track, I’ve really only scratched the surface of my potential and based on my drastic improvement from last year I have big goals for the long term. This year I went from being a 15’9.5” long jumper to a 17’7.5” long jumper, went from a 66-70 second 400 hurdler to a 63 second one, and improved my heptathlon score from 3397 to 4209. I cant wait to continue working hard and see what I can do next!
Academics have always been a priority of mine but I have developed time management skills that allow me to be a track athlete that can put maximum effort into each practice without being sidetracked by my commitment to my education.
