McKenna Clark '25 Recruiting Profile

I have been throwing shotput since 7th grade, and discus and javelin starting freshman year. While doing other sports, I never felt I belonged due to the strict team vs. team aspect of other sports and track is more of an "individual sport" which has given me an opportunity to compete against not only individuals on other teams, but on my own team as well. This helps me push further every meet and practice and I have been progressing at a rate of 2 feet a season for shotput. 

I have been awarded captain for indoor track for the 2022-2023 season and outdoor track in the 2023 season, and am grateful that my coaches saw my leadership skills and asked me to apply. By being a captain, I am teaching others technique while also teaching myself. Track has truly changed my outlook on sports and by being a part of it I have been taught to work with patience, understanding and respect.

1. In school, I maintain a high GPA while taking multiple honors classes, an AP class and being part of a club. I have learned to find a balance between my academics and extra-curricular activities to help me strive in both. I am in a group at my school that is hand picked by teachers to help to fight bias and stop defamation towards targeted groups. Through this opportunity, I have done 24 hours of training with the Anti Defamation League to become a peer trainer. Out of school I am a girl scout of 10+ years doing a lot of community service, including trash clean up and volunteering at soup kitchens.
2.  In college I want to major in Exercise Science (occupational therapy) or sociology. I believe with the classes/activities I am focusing my time on, I will do well with this major while balancing sports. I know that throwing for college would be a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my life.
