I was first interested in track when I was in 7th grade and walked into gymnastics one day and saw pole vaulters lined up on my vault runway. During practice I would watch them train and knew one day I was going to do that. I began pole vault in spring of my Freshman year and made it to sectionals later that year clearing 8ft. The following season I broke my ankle when I landed on the bar, pole vaulting. Once I was out of my boot, I tried to compete at divisionals, however, I woke up that morning sick. Throughout the whole season I continued to persevere and stay optimistic that I would be jumping again soon. During the winter season I was able to run the indoor pentathlon, and hope to do it again this spring and improve my score. At the end of my winter season I was also able to have an opportunity of a life time, and compete with my teammates in the shuttle hurdles relay at New Balance Nationals. This event motivated me to work even harder this spring in hopes of returning again. This spring I have cleared 10’6 and qualified myslef into the meet of champions. My goal next season is to make it to outdoor New Balance Nationals for pole vault. I also compete in many other track running events being 100m, 100m hurdles and the 4x100m relay. These are my favorite events because it is where I‘m able to show my strength.
