My name is Abby Baker, and I'm a junior at Whitman Hanson Regional High school. I am an honors student and I run for the Panthers. I am a varsity runner for cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. I have had successful seasons over the past three years, and have been named a Patriot League All-Star every season so far. I have also been named a Brockton Enterprise All Scholastic for cross country in 2009 and 2010 and 2011, as well as indoor and outdoor track in the past two seasons (2011). I am currently the top distance and mid-distance runner for my school and have already broken many of the school’s records. My best 5k time for cross country is a 19:10.7 which I ran this past season, in 2011. I also run the 1000m for my team and this past 2012 Indoor season I ran a 3:00.04 and recieved thrid at the state meet at the Reggie Lewis Center. I consider myself very fortunate to have been mentored in the past couple of years by some great upper classman, and now I try to work hard to share my enthusiasm for the sport and my work ethic with my younger teammates. It's one of my goals to run in college. I just want to keep getting better at the sport I love and to continue to compete; hopefully at a higher competition level! My work ethic is something that I am very proud of; this includes academics as well as athletics. Although I am still undecided as far as my major goes; I think I'm headed in the right direction. I am looking forward to learning more about a school that will be able to use all of my assets and help me to grow and succeed as a person, a student, and an athlete. I am open to any school that can be a good fit for me in the near future. Financial assistance would be a part of the proper fit. I would really like to be able to make it easier on my parents since they will have both my sister and I entering college at the same time. Please feel free to view my attached times and transcripts!
