Hi, my name is Akili Echols and I go to Farmington High School in Farmington Hills, MI. I am going to be a junior for the 2015-2016 school year. I love the sport of track and field and want to continue my journey of self-improvement in the sport and in the classroom all the way through college because academic and athletic success are very important to me. The main reason track is important, other than that I just enjoy it, is that it allows me to improve in a unique way. I can improve individually and work solely on myself, and I can also work with my teammates and learn how to work off of each other’s drive and particular skill sets. I can’t find another place where I can do both at the same time and for that reason, track interests me. I run the 100m, 200m, and the 400m along with the 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x400m relays. I run track through my school and AAU for indoor and outdoor. Not only is success important in the classroom and on the field, I believe that success in the social aspect of life is important too. To uphold strong bonds with friends and family is key to achieving my goals. Therefore when looking into colleges I hope to find one that values long lasting relationships as well as academic and athletic goals. Thank you for considering me to be on your team and I look forward to running in the future.
