Sports and physical activity have been an important part of my life since early grade school, when I began taking dance lessons and playing basketball and softball. My school offered track in the fourth grade and I was encouraged to join the team because of my speed and agility. As time went on, I decided I should focus on what I enjoyed the most and excelled at, that being running.
Beginning in seventh grade, I also started running cross country. I am proud to say that I hold several records at my elementary/middle school and was the 2018 cross country state champion for the Michigan Lutheran Schools. I went on to compete in the National Lutheran Cross Country Championship in Wisconsin, finishing as a second team All-American.
I started off with a great cross country season in my freshman year of high school. Then we felt the effect of Covid-19, as we had no track season. I was pleased with the results of my sophomore cross country season, in that I knocked thirty-two seconds off my PR. In track, I competed in the 4x400m, 4x800m, and the 800m, and made it to states in all three events. I finished the season making All-State in the 4x800m. My junior year, I was honored to be voted as a captain by my teammates and shaved 27 seconds off my 5K PR. As we are gearing up for our 2022 track season, I’m excited to represent my team again as a captain and look forward to an exciting and successful season!
As I consider the start of my college career, I am looking for a school that can meet my needs both academically and athletically, and where I can share my talents on the track for the good of the school’s team. I would love to hear from you if you think we might be a good match!
