Personal Statement

I first got interested in track in the 7th and 8th grade and I have loved it ever since.  My coaches at the time were Kelly Kolb and Katie Karlson .They asked me if I wanted to try the hurdles and since that conversation I have been jumping them and getting better each and every year. In middle school  I did the 50m and 200 m hurdles and in doing that I placed either 1st or 2nd each time, and getting at one of the meets ATHLETE OF THE DAY  for my great job at the hurdles.  Some other events I did in middle school were the 3200 m relay,800open run.

With my first year on Varstity Track fast approaching I was nervous that it was much harder with 9th thru 12th grade on the team,  But that did not stop me at all. That just made me work harder to achieve my goals of being the best I can be.I started out running in my freshman year the 100m  and 300m hurdles,1600m relay 400 open and the 800m relay. As the track season progressed my coach Mrs. Furman realized how good i was at the 300 hurdles and took me out of 400 open because it was back to back with my hurdles .  My times were much better when I did not have to run the 400. My times during my freshman year for my hurdles were ranging from 55 to 56 seconds . At the Gaylord meet of champions i had a PR of  53 which was my best all season. I went states as a freshman with my 1600 meter relay team last year , my split time was 1:01  for my lap in that relay.  I had a great first Varsity Track season as a freshman.

My Sophmore track season has been GREAT!  My times in the 300 hurdles have gotten even better .  My hard work has paid off  . At the beginning of the track season I said I wanted to go to States for my hurdles, well I am happy to say I AM!!! along with 3 other relays I am on .  So as a sophmore   I am going to states for the 4x100 relay,4x400 relay,4x200 relay and my  hurdles. At one of the last track meets we had  ,I had a PR in the 300 hurdles of 49.6  and I took second place .The record at my school is 48:30 and  before I graduate I would like my name on the board in our gym. I only plan to get better and better each year .  When i want something I set my mind to it and go for it.

Academically I am a very  hard worker.  I have my priorities in order on what i want to do with my life .  As of right now my GPA is a 3.6  .  I am very interested in going to school for animal medicine and with hard work and persistence  it is possiable. As a young lady i am very respectful of others, caring and most of all a great person to have on any sport I play. I have a positive attitude all the time.

Along with Track I also play Volleyball and Basketball  and this year i received MVP in both sports.  When I set my eyes on something I put 110% into everything I do.
