Personal Statement
My name is Allison Rand and I am a high school junior. My goal is to continue my Track and Field/ Cross Country career at the college level. 5 years ago I became a part of a sport that continues to challenge me both mentally and physically. I fell in love with running. From the moment I joined Lumen Christi High School’s varsity track team I learned not just how to run, but how to race. Both my freshman and sophomore years, I helped my 4x400 team earn all-state recognition. In the middle of my sophomore track season, I began racing the 1600 meter run. By the end of that 2017 outdoor season, I won a conference and regional title in the mile. This past season, I achieved numerous goals I set for myself including winning a state title and breaking two school records.
In the fall, I run for Lumen Christi Girls Cross Country. During the entirety of my freshman and sophomore seasons, I ran varsity. My junior season I ran my personal best 5K time of 19:25.0 at the DeWitt Cross Country Invitational, placing first in our division.
Dedication and hard work are necessary for success on and off the track. Cross Country and Track & Field have had a vital role in my day to day life. The same effort I give to athletics, I also invest in my academic success. I am not afraid of a challenge. I take difficult honors courses and play an active role in student council. My current, cumulative GPA is a 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.
Over the past few years, track and cross country have taught me that in order to excel, I must train harder than my competition every single day. I see myself as a leader and hold myself and my teammates accountable for our success. I make sure that I put my best effort forward on the track, course, and in the classroom. Every race and workout, I push myself further and desire to continue to unlock my full potential as a runner. I am looking for the chance transfer this motivation and dedication to the college track.
