I began running cross country in 7th grade to help stay in shape. I have continued running cross country and track and field every season since and now am going into my junior year of high school. At first I wasn't a huge fan of running, but my love for the sport grew over time. I am a very competitive person so running allowed me to give everything I had to be able to compete against others both individually and with my team. Whenever I line up for a race I always strive to do my best and improve upon a previous race. Running in individual races during track allows me to push my own boundaries and see how much I can do. It's amazing how you are able to surprise yourself after performing well during a race. Additionally, I enjoy the aspect of having a track family. It is a very welcoming environment and fun to be a part of. In my two years of high school track, I have also enjoyed being a part of multiple relay teams. I love to see my teammates doing well as much as I do myself. It's so special when you are a part of a relay team and are all able to improve over the season to reach a goal. I have gone to State both my freshman and sophomore year for two relays each year. I hope to continue to compete at the next level of track and field to go against many other athletes at the college level. I have the commitment and work ethic to compete with anyone when I put my mind to it and let the work pay off.
