Personal Statement
Saving somebody's life on an everyday basis is quite intriguing. It can be done a number of ways, as long as you can give somebody another day to live their life. I've always been interested in saving lives, even as a small child. My dream job has always consisted of giving people another chance. For instance, I've wanted to be a firewoman, police woman, psychologist, I wanted to join the marines, be a physicians assistant, be a pediatric doctor, and I have finally made up my mind now. I want to become a trauma surgeon. I understand there's a whole lot of schooling involved in the matter of becoming a surgeon, but I am all for it. I want to learn how to save lives quicker than anybody, I just want to better the world we live in, all around.
I also want to find the cure for cancer. My grandpa has prostate cancer, and two of my close friends have to get tumors removed because they're at high risk for breast cancer. I'm not the type of person to get overly afraid, but I'm scared every day that I'll lose one of them. I want to find the cure as soon as possible, I'm willing to stay up day and night. If we find the cure, we could save 1,660,290 people a year, roughly speaking. No matter what I'm doing, I just want to ensure people have a chance at surviving incidents they get caught up in, no matter how slim the chance at survival is. Also, I plan on joining the Marines maybe before Medical school so I can be a trauma surgeon for them, and help them fight for the United States and all of the citizens. But in the meantime I plan on attensing the University of San Francisco and run track and study Pre-Med while there. But, all in all, I want the world to become a better place all around, if I have to I'll have no problem going to another country to help them with whatever medical needs they have. I'm willing to help anybody and everybody in need.
At the moment, I'm doing an internship at the Saline Evangelical Home. Personally, I love going there and helping the senior citizens of our community throughout their everyday life. It doesn't matter how bad of a day I'm having before I go there, once I step into the nursing home life itself changes, I'm not doing things for me anymore, I'm helping others. I love making them smile and just laugh, a lot of them aren't usually smiling, but I'll find their weakness and try and make their day as swell as I possibly can. During my internship, I don't really do any certified nursing assistant objectives. I deliver their mail, take them to bingo or a concert, or just talk to them and see how they're doing in general. I love getting to know the people of the nursing home, they all have very rich backgrounds and are always full of surprises.
I have a few people that have inspired me to follow my dreams as a whole. Those two are individuals are the reason I will sit there and out work anybody to fulfill my goals. The first person I want to bring in is my closest friend, Devon. She's played a huge role in my life, and helped me justify my plans for the future, she's also taught me the value of never giving up. No matter how hard things get, just keep your head up and keep pushing through. Another very important person is my friend, Lucia Alfaro. She has taught me the true value of handwork. She started out her freshman year as holding up the rear on the cross country team, she then ended her senior year as the best on the team and she qualified for states. She taught me that handwork will always beat talent. She's the reason i'm so driven for success.
I honestly just want to help the world evolve into a much better place to be, not having to be afraid of the worries of cancer, or going to a hospital. I entend on helping everybody that comes through the hospital doors, and the world once I find the cure for cancer. I don't want anybody to lose a family member, or a close friend just because we don't have a cure. I want to wipe away all the fears of the world, so people don't really have to worry about anything whatsoever.
