Personal Statement

My name is Trinity Wilder. I come from this tiny town called Petersburg right on the border of Michigan, about fifteen minutes away from Ohio. Unless you know someone from the area, it is extremely unlikely to have ever heard about it. Our town might not be big and popular, but growing up there has taught me many important lessons and I take each to heart as I continue my journey. My favorite part of my small town is the little track team that I am blessed to be a part of.

There are about 120 kids in my entire highschool. This means when it comes to sports, we are already very familiar with who will be our teammates. This gives us the opportunity to create close bonds with each other before the season even starts, which is a huge advantage that many of us take for granted. My varsity track team currently has nine girls. My freshman year we had thirteen. We still managed to push each other and make it to team states the past two years. Most of us girls were even underclassmen. Because we have such a small team, we all need to do our absolute best to make any high achievements. Without the amount of love and hype we put into each other, we would have nothing. I learned not only to appreciate everyone around me, but also to always support them. Being a part of this team has given me so much confidence and it has shown me how important it is to care for the people around me. I know that the size of our team is far from impressive, but we will always have each other’s backs. That is what I value most from being on it, the fact that no matter how bad the day goes or how low I feel, I will never be ridiculed. My small school has given me the opportunity to bring out all the love that I can give, for not only the sport I compete in, but the people by my side through it.

I am extremely passionate about track. Every day that I spend running hurdle drills, working on my high jump form, or just trying to increase my speed, I feel at peace. No matter how much pain it puts me through, I always give my all. No matter how many times I fail, I go and try again until I can prevail. The sport has been my favorite part of school. I am constantly thinking about what my next goal should be and how I will achieve it. I care tremendously, I love to compete, and I will always put in the work that I am asked to do as well as mass amounts of my own time. I desperately hope to continue on this love throughout college if given the opportunity. Track has brought me so much confidence and happiness growing up. I excel in school because it has taught me to believe I can accomplish great things. I am a very social person now because of it. I used to be quiet and scared of meeting people, but after attending invitationals and having so many people around me, I’ve completely changed and for the better. I am comfortable with large random groups now; I look forward to all the new memories I will make from being so social and love the experience. I will do anything and everything to achieve my goal of being in track throughout college, constantly working, all the while having the biggest smile and most positive attitude. There is no bad day that could ever overpower my joy from being a part of track and field. There is no disappointment that will ever bring down my high spirit, because while on the track, I am truly at my happiest.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
