Personal Statement
As a farm raised gymnast, I am as comfortable doing a tsukahara as I am driving a tractor or pounding fence posts. I received my farm drivers license at the age of 15 in a one ton extended cab Dodge dually pick up truck, and yes I parallel parked it! Although I have been doing club gymnastics since I was three years old and progressed through level nine, upon entering high school I broadened my horizons to high school gymnastics and track and field. My freshman year of track my coaches had me try multiple events to find the best fit. Based on that, sophomore year I decided too maintain my focus on sprints, high jump and pole vault. I was able to progress in pole vault, setting a new high school record, 11 feet 6 inches, section champion, and tied the second place height but placed third. In college I would like to attend a D1 school with a physical therapy concentration. I enjoy working with athletes and helping people recover from injuries, something I am well acquainted with.
Although my writing skills still need a little polishing, I lead a successful team effort as a freshman to secure funding from the school board for a new gymnastics floor by personally preparing and delivering a speech on behalf of our gymnastics team at a school board meeting.
My favorite high school classes are Spanish, physical education.
I participate in 2 choirs and enjoy performing vocal solos and duets at my home church and other venues per request
I enjoy mentoring and coaching younger children through our local community education programs and my church. I hope to continue this effort as part of my career goals
