Hello! My name is Grace Baker, I live in Champlin, Minnesota and I currently go to Champlin Park High School. I have done track and field for my freshman and sophomore year of high school and my freshman year I competed in Varsity sections and competed on the Varsity team for the 100M and Long Jump. I took some time off in my junior year to focus on academics and I am now back competing with Minnesota Flyers Track and Field (previously called Park Flyers track and field). My goals for the summer season is to qualify for JO nationals and to improve my times in the 100M and the 200M and improve my Long Jump and Triple Jump. I am extremely motivated and passionate about track and field and I always strive to improve and get better and stronger, both mentally and physically and I also love the team dynamic that track and field gives me. I am also very determined in school and am very serious about academics, this past year (2023) I was part time PSEO student, and for my senior year (2024) I am going to be a full time PSEO student. I think something that makes me unique in my character is how empathetic I am, and how much I want to help people. I always try my best to help others and help them through things and be there for someone and be supportive of people, and that is what pushed me into psychology, is because I want to help people in the way I was helped. Something that makes me unique as an athlete and student is my work ethic and my determination, I always have big goals and I am always pushing to get those goals physically but I also try my best to stay emotionally and mentally healthy, and I can recognize the times when I need a bit of a break to recuperate and get my mental mindset back on track so I can go and achieve those goals successfully. (Summer of 2023)
(10/30/2023) I have now started lifting 3-5 days a week, and I Have started pole vaulting with Fleigles Flyers as well and I am focusing a lot on my sprinting form and speed work as well as triple jump work and explosiveness as well as being a well rounded athlete and honestly having fun trying new things and expanding my horizons and going out of my comfort zone.
Going into Indoor season, I am hoping to do more specific events that will make my Heptathlon score better and stronger as well as get better marks for pole vault and getting more consistent marks and times in all of my events and just improving overall.
