Personal Statement

I am a Senior distance runner from Moose Lake, Minnesota. I started running Cross Country in 7th grade and track in 8th grade.  I have earned four Varsity letters and have been All-Conference in Cross Country the past two years. My current 5k PR for cross country is 20:34. On the track, my PRs are 12:53 for the 3200m and 6:01 for the 1600m (both from my sophomore year). In cross country, I have improved my 5k PR by 5 minutes and 40 seconds since I ran my first 5k in 8th grade. I train year-round. In practice, I try to set an example for my teammates by taking each everything from warm-ups to core work seriously in addition to giving my best effort in every workout.

Academically, I have an unweighted 4.0. I am currently in my third semester of PSEO (Postsecondary Enrollment Options) at Lake Superior Community classes, I am also taking some high school classes both through homeschool and my local high school.

I am looking for a school with a strong engineering program. Currently, I am leaning towards a school in the Midwest area.
