Hi! My name is Hannah Kariuki, I am a freshman at Oxford High school, Mississippi. I started running when I was about 6 years old. I've always wanted to become a well-known runner like my father, Bernard Kuria. He was recruited as a freshman from our home country Kenya to the University of Florida in 1995. As a Gator, he was an All-American in the 10,000m race. He told me stories of how he succeeded in transferring from his village in Kenya to Gainesville, Florida. He later transferred to Ole Miss and held the 10K record (29.07:38) there for 23 years! He was one of the top SEC runners during his collegiate years. I understand the hard work and the obstacles individuals have to go through mentally and physically. I want to push myself to meet my goals and inspire others to push themselves even when it hurts. Letting them know that someone is out there watching you grow and ready for the next achievement. I'd also love to study more about fine arts, history, geography, and sports education as well. I have a 3.75 out of 4.0 GPA, and will always be striving to get to higher standards. I want to be in a program that will help me achieve my goals both as a runner, and student.
