I joined the cross country team in sixth grade and that year ran a 5K time of 34:28.82. The next summer I got serious about training and worked hard in practice finding myself on the varsity XC team of my small private school with a PR of 22:25.57. During my seventh grade track season, I had a couple good meets but unfortunately got hip flexor tendinitis which put me out for the rest of the season. That summer going into eighth grade, I once again worked really hard and finished my eighth grade grade cross country season with a new PR of 20:30.93, a team state championship (which was my school's first ever) and a third place overall finish at State. Later that school year, I twice qualified to state, once individually in the 400m and once as the anchor of the 4x800 relay. I finished second overall in the varsity 400m with a new PR and anchored our third place relay team. I was named to the 2022 All MAIS Pre-Season team, selected as part of the top 15 athletes going into the season.
My 2022 cross country season concluded with a new PR of 20:07.70 and a part as one of our scoring five in my team's back-to-back state championship. I once again made the 2023 All MAIS Pre-Season team, joining three of my teammates as part of the top 15 MAIS athletes going into the season.
2023 track season was a busy year. As a freshman, I qualified to the MAIS 5A state championship in all three sprint events (100, 200, 400), finishing fourth in both the 200 and 400. I also anchored our team's bronze medal finish in the 4x400. I was named the girl's track MVP at the conclusion of the season at East Rankin Academy's sports awards.
My 2023 cross country season just concluded with a second appearance on the All MAIS pre season team and a third straight MAIS 5A State Championship where I once again contributed as part of my team's scoring top five.
Bottom line, I work hard to improve my fitness and technique bringing effort and energy to everything I do. These skills and abilities would make me a great recruit for any college team.
