This past season was my first year participating in track and field, and I soon found a passion for triple jump. Due to the small size of my school as well as the strict focus on academics, there was not a coach specifically experienced in triple jump to guide me, but the coaches still made sure to focus on my newly found fervor for the event and did their best to adapt to the event. At the beginning of the season, I jumped a rather unimpressive jump of 29’5”, but as the season progressed, I found myself setting new goals and breaking my own records as I ended the season winning the Missouri Class 1 Triple Jump title at State with a jump of 36’5”. My short term goal is to break the Missouri Class 1 Triple Jump record at State this upcoming season. My long term goal is to reach my full potential in the event and to improve my technique and expand into other events as well.
