Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Emma, and I am a senior at Park Hill South outside of Kansas City, Missouri. I have always loved running. My freshman year I discovered that I was also pretty good at it. The best part of this discovery was the drive and focus it gave me as I entered high school and the relationships with teammates that I developed. Being on the cross country and track team has helped me meet many great people and helped me build a support system within my school. My teammates and I encourage each other in our sports, academics and personal lives. I feel like we bring out the best in each other. Our coach treats our team like a big family and we all benefit from that feeling of closeness, even with 53 girls on the team. My love of running and being apart of something bigger than myself is what motivates me to want to continue to run in college. I am considering a career in medicine and am excited for the learning and challenges I know that field of study is full of. I work hard and give 110% to everything I am a part of. I would love to be surrounded by a team in college with the same work ethic, but that also has a fun side and knows how to relax when needed. My experience living in Australia from the ages of 10-14 has really helped me grow and learn to adapt to change. It has peaked my curiosity about the world around me and other points of view. I hope to do some traveling when I am older. Mostly I am excited to see what the future holds for me!
UPDATE! I am thrilled to announce that I will be continuing my academic and running career at MIZZOU!!! GO TIGERS!
