Elena Vandersloot '20 Recruiting Profile

In my freshman year of cross country I learned that the first step to achieving your goals was to believe in yourself. This mindset is what helped me gain confidence and go from not making the JV traveling team to ending the season as the 5th runner on our girls varsity team. Since that learning experience I have strived to meet my goals through positivity and determination not only as a runner but a student as well. As a sophomore and junior in both cross country and track I made an effort to share this concept with my teammates and to be a leader. 

I am grateful to be a part of such a committed team with passionate coaches who have helped me improve with each cross country and track season. Running has been my passion for as long as I can remember which is why I want to continue running in college to further excel and expand my love of competitive running. I am looking for a college that would not only challenge me athletically and acedemically but will push me to reach greater levels of success in both areas.
