Personal Statement
I started running track in Junior High. I started out with short sprints and long jump winning our conference meets. My freshman year I decided to take on hurdling. For most of my freshman year I competed in short sprints and the 300H. My sophomore year I decided to try the 100H and I fell in love. The first couple meets I had tough luck, but by the middle of the season I started getting first at meets and ended up winning our conference. I qualified for state that year and came out in the middle. The summer between my sophomore and junior year I worked a lot on form and this year I have been able to run a 16.5 consistently. I hope to make it to state again this year.
My biggest goal in the hurdles for my senior year is to be able to three-step in a race. I have been able to do a few during practice; however I have not been able to in a race yet. I haven't thought a lot about running track in college until recently due to focusing on my classes in high school, but I am interested in competing at the collegiate level if I happen get the chance.
I have maintained a 4.0 GPA since my freshman year. I have always made sure I get everything done for my classes before I focus on sports. I have played basketball, volleyball, and softball as well throughout junior high and high school, but I have always enjoyed track the most because its an individual sport as well as a team sport. My performance is all on me, but I still have a team supporting me and pushing me to do my best. I am very passionate about hurdles and I hope to maybe pursue my dreams of running them in college!
