Personal Statement
I have been in competitive running since I was in fourth grade and have always been on relatively small teams. Being on a small team allowed me to get good, personalized tips from all my coaches helping me grow as an athlete. For several years in my running career, I have been the only girl on the cross country team which lead me to train with the Varsity Boys team and such it has become a pattern for me to train with them for they know how and when to push me. I constantly need to be pushed further and harder to reach my potential, especially in cross country (which is my favorite). I love running, it has always been a safe-haven of happiness for me and I would hate to let it go.
On the track and on the course I lead our team threw warm-ups, stretches, cool-downs, and abs as Captain and in prayer before races (I attend a Christian high school). Outside of cross country and track I am a leader in our church youth group by encouraging and arranging activities for the youth group and by example by being active in serving our church and it's youth's activities.
As a student-athlete I constantly have to juggle both my sport and school work. Being in a college prep school pushes me further in academics and holds me to a high standard that I do my best to meet. Although I have a lot of school work, I manage my time well so I do not miss out on practices and meets due to school. One thing I do struggle with is getting enough sleep (as I write this at 11:35 PM the night before school starts), but I am working on ways to try to improve my sleeping habits.
