I, as a person, have always had high goals. To me, life is about doing the best you can possibly do, being the best you can possibly be, and inspiring others to also be the best versions of themselves. Ever since I was little, I found a fascination in how the world around me worked, in what bird sang what song, in how each animal had its own beauty and power, in how when I looked up at night, these amazing bright stars in the sky were billions of lightyears away, surrounded by phenomena we humans can only dream of. Simply put, it was a thirst that I could not quench, and doubtfully ever will be. While my interest in education, learning, and science especially has always been a steady, present force my entire life, sports were something else entirely. I am the older sister to my younger brother, and seeing as neither of my parents played any sport, the first to really try out on athletic abilities. Soccer was an immediate, instinctive sport I instantaneously loved, and alpine skiing was one so natural I could spend my whole day out on the slopes. In middle school, I signed up for track. Being the fastest on the soccer field, I thought I would have had sprinting down, but it seemed there were other hidden talents left undiscovered. I had very quickly attempted javelin and was the pretty good at the time, however my two best friends preferred discus over the spear. So at the very end of my 8th grade track season I tried discus...and absolutely fell in love. It was an experience so breathtaking it was as if a whole new side of me had been freed. I made it to the Meet of Champions with no more than two weeks of training and only two of those ten days training with an actual throwing coach. I didn't place, but it proved I had the possibility. Flash forward a year and as a freshman I placed 7th place at the state meet with an 85'3" throw. Practices showed a few of over 100'. My determination and passion to be the best I can be has anchored itself deep into the root of everything I do, and now that passion is a huge part of my love for discus. In the upcoming years, I want to prove to my family, friends, coach, and most importantly myself, that I can reach every goal I set and shatter them beyond what was thought possible.
