Personal Statement
As an aspiring collegiate athlete, I hope to contribute to a team as well as achieve new personal records. In high school, I found my closest friends through cross country; I hope that college will not only allow me to make friendships during my four years there but also establish bonds that will last a lifetime. When it comes to performance, I have always been driven to do my personal best. I have a strong work ethic and commitment to the sport. My performance on race day reflects my discipline in practice has resulted in consistent performances. In both running and academics, I believe that my focus and attention to detail set me apart. Maintaining good grades while participating in cross country, winter track, and spring track is not easy. With a demanding schedule, I make an effort to get enough sleep before races and balance my school work - which sometimes means completing work on the bus rides to and from meets. I am always willing to put in extra effort or practice longer in order to reach my potential. I will go the extra mile - literally - in the classroom and on the trails!
