Personal Statement
My greatest accomplishment was being born with a multicystic kidney and doctors telling me I wouldn't be able to any play sports, until I found track and excelled in it. Every sport I ever wanted to play I was turned away, either because I was too big or I only have one kidney and have to be extremely careful. It wasn't until my freshman year I became really interested in weight training and was recommended to join track for shot put. After I did some research and developed a drive to do something with myself, I attended practice everyday since and fell in love.
Being apart of a team and surrounding myself with others like myself, showed me I can do anything a person with two kidneys can do. Also keeping myself on the high honor roll to make sure I can continue participating. I never thought I would've seen myself making it even close to the 2018 Championship Sectionals but I did it. Win or lose, medal or no medal, breaking my personal record or not, having one kidney won't hold me back from the commitment I've made with track and field. I will continue to preserve with any challenge life throws at me.
