As a member of the Varsity Girls Track Team since the eighth grade, I have learned the values of teamwork, commitment, dedication, and motivation. I have used these values to push myself to be the best teammate, captain, and individual performer I can be. My determination and hard work have helped me to break the school indoor and outdoor 4x200 record, along with the outdoor 4x100 meter record. I have also won two second-place sectional patches as an 8th grader and freshman, along with two third place patches in the open 400 and 4x100 sophomore year. I have been working hard in the weight room and on the track this offseason with the goal in mind of breaking more school records and setting personal records in the 200,300, and 400-meter dash this season. Through hard work, I have been able to accomplish these goals this season, by replacing my personal records with better times and breaking my third school record at Ocean Breeze and Yale University. This year on the track team, I have been selected a captain which will help me grow as a leader and develop leadership skills that I can carry throughout my high school career and to the college level.
Since my goal is to be able to participate in girls track in college, I am looking for a school that would be a good fit for me athletically and academically. I value academics just as much as I do athletics as demonstrated by my current GPA of 4.0. Along with track, I also participate in Varsity Soccer and I am the second flute in my high school band. I am also a part of the Spanish Club, National Honors Society, Varsity Club and Girl Talk Chapter. These extracurricular activities have taught me how to manage my time, and have taught me different aspects to make me a well-rounded student-athlete. I am up for a challenge and will work to accomplish anything that’s presented to me. Saying this, I would like to pursue a university with a biomedical program because I enjoy working with people and the medical field peaks my interests, especially biology. I believe not only do I have the academic qualities to make an impact on your university, but I also have the ability to be a great member of your track program!
