I fell in love with Running when I competed for my middle school cross country team. My middle school cross country team taught me what it means to be a runner. I developed not only the proper mechanics of running, but also my meaning of endurance, perseverance, and grit. I additionally realized the essence of being a teammate; It is cheering each other on and pushing yourself and others to become the best person and runner you could possibly be.
It was a challenging transition from running in middle school to running in high school that tested who I was as a runner. I am proud that I passed the test and have grown even more as a runner. I have been fortunate to have had terrific coaches in not only middle school but also high school. They have pushed me to become a better person and athlete. With their guidance and support, I have developed what running means to me. Running is not merely a sport for me, but a practice of persistence, strength, and discipline. Being a runner is about overcoming barriers and devoting oneself wholly to running. I have obtained a sense of purpose, belonging, and strength that I would like to continue into college. I would bring not only athletic ability onto a college team, but also character, dedication, and hard work.
