Hey! I'm Caroline Barton, a class of 2025 distance runner from Asheville, NC. I'd consider myself a miler/2-miler, but I love running anything from the 800 to the 5k.

I got into running as an 8-year-old when I saw a hurdler on the front page of a newspaper and was in awe of the confident power pictured above the fold in the sports section. While I didn't turn out to be a hurdler, I grew to love running because of the camaraderie between runners; at big races, it's always fun to exchange a "Gosh, I'm so nervous" or a more simple "Good luck!" I love celebrating wins right on the finish line with a fist bump or a hug. I love seeing girls I know from previous meets and saying hi, knowing that no matter how the race turns out, I have a friend on the start line with me.

At the college level, I'm looking for a positive team atmosphere, the kind of team where I know I've got a friend toeing the line with me. I'm also looking for a strong team collectively, time/place-wise. I'm looking for a team and a coach that's focused on process goals over outcome goals as well as advocating for health and longevity. I'm a good candidate for any team because of my strong work ethic, determination, and leadership. I believe that positivity and a strong team bond are also important facets of a cohesive team, and I will always work to bring these characteristics to practices and meets, making the team the strongest it can be.
