Personal Statement
Going to Regionals as part of my high school varsity team in 2015 has been the highlight of my career thus far. I started running when I didn't make the volleyball team in middle school. I was crushed, but I had some friends who ran cross country, so I thought I'd give it a try. When I started running, I was pretty slow. My freshman year, in fact, I was the slowest runner on my team. I decided that summer that I really enjoyed running, so I decided to put in more work in the offseason. When I came back my sophomore year, I was running as a part of our varsity team, four minutes faster than the year before. I've learned, through cross country, basketball, and track, that I am persistent and a natural leader.
Throughout my many years of running, I've had to deal with injuries and adversity. My drive and dedication to running have allowed me to not only continue but excel. As a three-sport scholar-athlete, I have found my uniquely powerful sense of quiet leadership is a great addition to all of my teams. My teammates often look to me for answers, and I often take more responsibility and less credit than I perhaps am due. I always strive to do the best I can in school and all my other endeavors. I would like to continue to do this in college as well. I am looking for a school and team that will allow me to continue to encourage and be encouraged in academics as well as athletics.
