Personal Statement
Beating the Minford High School discus record of 28 years as a sophomore was a high point in track and field for me. However, I believe I have learned more by dedicating myself to my team and events. I have thrown discus for four years, but I have only thrown shot put for one. Doing this has helped me grow out of my comfort zone and has really challenged me. Over the past two months I have put in hours of work to make sure I threw the best I could with the time I had. Now that I have proven to myself I have the ability to dedicate myself, I would like the opportunity to show others.
I have had the opportunity to not only compete against people who have challenged me, but to compete with the knowledge that I am a throwing team captain. This has taught me to keep my head up even on bad days, and encourage my team to keep going. I would like to find a school that will continue to challenge me athletically, as well as academically. I believe that I have the ability to be a leader and the ability to be an excellent teammate.
