As I looked at our girls top 10 times to beat in each track event I saw the name of someone I was determined to beat! As I turned and looked at the boys top 10 times I once again saw a name I wanted to make proud! How many athletes can say both parents held school records? How many athletes can say only two people at our school have made it to state in 4 events are their parents? I can!! I set a goal my freshman year to beat my mom’s 100mh record and her 300mh record. I put in countless hours on the track to make that happen. I also had the goal to make it to state as a freshman. I made it, I made it to state and broke her 100mh record! My sophomore year I wanted more, I wanted her 300mh record that was 19 years old and I wanted top 5 at state. I did it! I have been able to set my goals and excel. I am determined to be at the top!
I have learned through track that I can excel not only individually, but as a team. I was able to be part of my 4X1 relay team to make it to state. With my previous experience I was able to help calm the nerves of the freshman. Letting them know: go out, do your best, and take in the awesome experience!! Take in the cheers, the parents support, the other athletes. Learn from this experience, dig deep, and be determined to make it back here!
My goal is to make it to the next level, to run at a college where I can continue these experiences with new teammates and new memories. To walk away with new friendships and start my journey as a Nurse then to a Certified Nurse Practitioner.
