Personal Statement

I love to run, a simple statement that provides one with so many details about me as a person and as an athlete. As an athlete I am a very self driven individual who strives for the very best. I constantly put my best foot forward (pardon the pun) and my determination to run with not only my head but also my heart is what sets me ahead. I was self trained for a mere year and excelled during the competitive season. Upon joining a formal track and field club (Hamilton Olympic Club) and receiving the expertise of a true coach, I have since improved in my running, times and knowledge of the sport. All within a short year I went from non-runner to an OFSSA and Junior National competitor, racing against some of the best females in the province and country. Similar to my running profile, as a student I am always striving to do my best and constantly go above and beyond to excel in my work. I consistently achieve top grades, am ranked in the top 5% of academics in the school, and have never failed to make honour roll. I have been raised in house hold that values love, respect, care, and a hardworking demeanor, all attributes that I carry with me in my academics and running. I aspire to be the best person I can be in all situations and with the upmost vigor, hope to achieve my vision of one day working in the health sciences, maybe nutrition, conducting state of the art and revolutionary research. I hope to travel, see the world, explore new places, make a difference, run, and just enjoy life. My ultimate goal is to find a university that has my best interest in mind and will provide me with the tools I need to be a successful individual. I enjoy a good challenge, whether is be an intricate and detailed homework assignment or a rough and hilly running course. As an athlete, student and individual, I want come at life head on, and more importantly at a run.
