I hope to achieve good grades in university and get a degree in science of some sort. My end goal in life is to become a doctor, but in whatever i do end up doing I want to be happy. I hope that in university I can compete in track and field because it is very fun, challenging and keeps me in great shape. I am a good candidate for your team because I am extremely hard working, responsible, motivated and I always strive to challenge myself in every aspect of my life. I will always be a positive influence on the rest of the team and encourage and motivate them to do their very best and in turn motivate myself to achieve my best. My perseverance is another thing that I believe would make me a great candidate for you team. I never give up, I have worked hard and persevered in everything I have done for my entire life. Perseverance and being hard working is something that I believe is needed in any great athlete because nothing can replace hard work. Talent can only get you so far and if you want to be the best you have to be willing to work hard and to never give up. I am different from other recruits because I am very outgoing, enthusiastic and personable. I am also not the type of person to believe that something is "good enough", to me the phrase "good enough" means that whatever it is that has been accomplished has not been done with 100% effort or is something that you do not believe is truly great or completed with your best degree of effectiveness. I try to make everyone around me feel included and encourage them to participate in whatever is happening and make them believe that they can achieve whatever they put their mind to. I am one to always cheer on teammates and lift up friends when they are feeling down. Another aspect that makes me different than the rest of the recruits is all my experience in sport. I have done competitive gymnastics since the age of 9 and gymnastics not at the competitive level since I was 3. All these years of gymnastics have taught me so much about myself and life. Gymnastics is an extremely challenging sport not only athletically but mentally as well. I currently train 18 hours a week and everyday I am sore and tired but that doesn't stop me from attending or putting in effort. At practice I know that in order to achieve my goal I need to work hard so I push aside all my problems of the day and focus on my gymnastics and my goals. Throughout all these years I have also learned that winning is not everything and that it is not important, but what is important is that you see progress and that you were better than you were before. It has taught me that medals and trophies don't mean nearly as much as how you feel about your performance. Another thing that gymnastics has brought me is resilience. After anticipating competing for team Ontario in January of 2017, I broke my arm before the competition during practice one day and i was so disappointed but i continued to condition even harder in the gym and after I got my cast off I bounced back better than I would have ever before and made it a goal that in the next year I would make team Ontario again and make it to the competition, and with a lot of hard work and perseverance I completed my goal. Athletic wise, I have been doing sports throughout my entire life, along with gymnastics I have done house league soccer every summer since I was little and have done track and field every year since I was 8. I am extremely flexible, strong, have great endurance and a lot of power. I am also very versatile in sport and although I am much better at gymnastics and track, I play soccer and used to compete and do well in cross country. In terms of academics, I am a straight A student and currently achieve above a 90 in every single one of my classes. I study hard and always attend class. I mostly enjoy science and math but i achieve high grades in all languages. I am bilingual, I speak fluent french and have been doing french immersion since kindergarten.
