Personal Statement
My desire is to be a successful student athlete by competing collegiately in track and field. I’m confident I’m a good fit for your track team because I am a coachable athlete and an empathetic teammate.
I believe that as an athlete there is a sense of family as you become closer to teammates and even their parents. As far back as my first track meet in 2015, my initial and amazing “track family” sparked my confidence and my love and passion for track. I was one of the oldest on the club track team so I was given a role of responsibility. Knowing the coaches believed in me was a big boost in my confidence, which helped me understand that I wanted to help others have confidence in themselves as well.
My track history is well-rounded, competing in high jump, long jump, 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, pentathlon and heptathlon. I also believe playing multiple sports is important. I played soccer up to high school, and currently play high school varsity basketball my freshman and sophomore years with two years still remaining. Freshman year (2019) track honors: Portland (OR) Metro League 2nd team in 100m hurdles, Oregon State Championship qualifier in 100m hurdles, Newcomer of the Year (on team with 300 athletes). I currently hold three school records in high jump, long jump and 100m hurdles.
I want my years in college to be a time of continued growth, athletically and academically. My goal is to explore a major in pre-veterinary medicine. I will represent my team and university well. My hope is to run for a team that will continue to shape my athletic and academic performance.
