I started my pole vault journey my sophomore year of high school. Within that year, I learned my love for the sport. I ended my first season with a PR of 8'6". Starting my Junior year, I decided to switch to online/homeschooling through Bridgeway Homeschooled Academy. I thought that this meant that I would not be able to pole vault again. I learned of a private pole vault club called Rise Pole Vault founded by Jake Winder. I joined mid November and I am blown away by my progression. In the first month, my technique was corrected and I matched my previous PR. I am currently working on 10ft, soon to be 11ft. Pole Vault has taught me patience in myself as an athlete and the importance of hard work. It is a sport that I am very passionate about and would love to continue in college.
Switching to Bridgeway Homeschooled Academy has given me the opportunity to organize my own time. It allows me to have more time to do the things that I love, such as Pole Vaulting, and my grades have never been better. My current GPA is a 4.46 out of 5, and I am also currently enrolled in Dual Credit courses which challenge me to become a better student. I have accomplished all of this even while staying active in my daily life.
