I first got in to running in third grade. My sister did Girls on the Run, and I thought it looked like a fun thing to to. This opened my eyes to cross country and track. The sport has given me an outlet for stress and is a wonderful way to meet new people. It has also given me immense happiness over the years. That third grader seven years ago never thought she could run faster than her big sister! The way I feel after meeting a new goal is amazing. Even after a hard workout or a long distance run, if I meet my goal I'll have a smile on my face for the rest of the day. Running has also made me very self motivating. At some points there will be no one there to cheer you on, be it on or off the course. Competitive running is an important part of my life, and I'm ready to continue in college.
