Since joining the track and field team my freshman year of high school, I have been hooked on running. It was a great way for me to forget the day and I am now determined to take my love for the sport to the next level. I had been playing field hockey for years and because of my love for track, I decided to switch to cross country my sophomore year.
Thanks to my teammates, and my coaches support, I have been able to achieve personal records and played a key role in our teams victories.
I was awarded EPC All Star Team my first year on the cross country team. I medaled in EPCs and District 11 Championships my sophomore year and went on to compete at States. Along with championship awards, I also placed at the DeSales Invitational my sophomore and junior year, placing 4th and 6th. In addition, I placed at the Paul Short Invitational at Leigh University, with a PR of 19:44 and came in 25th. Unfortunately, my cross country season this year was cut short due to hip inflammation and a gluteus medius strain. However, I am fully healed and back to training, and I am looking forward to track season.
But there is more to me than just running. When I am not on the trails, I am studying and striving for academic excellence. Balancing my cross country and track schedule, while taking challenging courses. This taught me the value in time management and discipline. I am extremely involved in my school, whether it be with Mini-THON, NHS, EPC SAC Council, Sports Club, and Aevidum.
In the future, I will continue to strive for academic excellence and success while running.
